First things first I want to say well done for those reading this you've survived 3 year of mental breakdowns, hung over 9am start, and survived on pasta pesto for weeks on ends (Whatever grade you got you survived and that's an achievement in itself) And to those who are in Uni/ about to go, Good luck you're gonna need it, whatever you do just enjoy your time. So you've done it, you finally got to wear the funny hat and gown which you soon realised isn't as comfortable as you hoped, you've sat through a 2 hour ceremony, and you didn't fall on stage (an achievement in itself). You managed to crame 3 years worth of stuff you've gathered into the back of your parents car only to discover most of its gonna end up in the charity shop but most you just can't part with because memories. You now have two rooms worth of stuff stuck in your childhood bedroom (if you're lucky enough and your family haven't turned it into a storage room or your younger sibling hasn't snatched it up.) Now that you've graduated you've been bombarded with people asking "have you got a job?" or "What do you want to do now?" and to be honest after 3 years of studying you still haven't got a clue. Traveling the world to 'find yourself' seems like an easy escape from adulthood but the debit you've gained over the years at university makes traveling seem like a distant dream. So you update the CV and send it out to job after job it's exhausted and you feel like you're getting nowhere everyone is asking for at least 3 years of work experience alongside your degree unfair? try impossible if you want 3 years of experience please don't claim it as an entry level role yours sincerely an unemployed graduate. After traipsing the internet for hours applying for job after job, you finally get an interview and you're bricking it, What do you wear? How do I get there? Did I say the right things? should I of said more? did I give them enough eye contact? how was my body language? can I actually see myself working here, these thoughts are flooding your head before, after and during the interview. Only to have them never contact you again, another one bites the dust, and you're back to square one. You thought a degree would open doors for you, if only university prepared us. Oh wait they did, but you didn't attend those lectures because they were either too early, it wasn't 'cool' to go to them, or the most likely it didn't count towards your final grade so you didn't go (Opsy) and even if you did attend them as soon as you steep into that interview room it all goes out your head anyway and the nervous take over and you blabaling bout something that isn't what they asked you. Just know you're not alone we're all in the same broke unemployed graduate boat, you'll get there in the end, don't give up! You survived 3 years at university you can now survivor anything.
